Homemade Chunky Applesauce

What better way to use those extra apples than homemade applesauce?  This is a fast and easy recipe that is great for weeknight meals and could even be paired with vegan vanilla ice cream for an impromptu dessert!  Cinnamony and warming, this applesauce is so delicious!

  • Peel, core and slice thin all of the apples. Add the apples and the water to a medium saucepan and set burner to medium heat.
  • Add sugar and cinnamon to saucepan with apples and water. Mix and cover. Let cook for about 20 minutes.
  • Remove cover. Apples should be very tender. Mash apples with a potato masher to your desired consistency. I like applesauce a little chunky, but you do you! Let apples cook another 10 minutes, uncovered. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
